South Carolina/Georgia. Volunteers needed at J. Strom Thurmond Lake. Located near Augusta, Georgia, home of the Master's Golf Tournament. Thurmond is the largest Corps Lake east of the Mississippi. Enjoy a temperate climate mild winters incredible fishing, boating, hunting, and recreation. Recruiting for multiple positions. Duties may include cleaning campsites and restrooms, camper registration, answering phones and visitor center. Volunteers receive hookups in return for working 20 hours per week/32 hours for couples. Arkansas. Volunteer needed for janitorial and campsite host at the Arkansas Post Field Office. Janitorial volunteer will provide cleaning services including restrooms, offices, kitchen, work areas, parking lots, compound buildings, and grounds. 20 hours per week. Campsite with electric and sewer provided. Cleaning supplies will be provided by government. Janitorial days off: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday. Janitorial work will be performed from April 1, 2022, through March 31, 2023. Campsite host days off: Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Pennsylvania. The Army Corps of Engineers at Raystown Lake are seeking resident volunteers for the 2023 recreation season. In exchange for 20-30 hours/week, volunteers are provided a full hookup campsite for the duration of their service. Season runs April to October, start/end dates are flexible. California. groundskeeping, and park maintenance year-round at Hidden Dam/Hensley Lake. Located in the heart of California's Central Valley in a scenic part of the Sierra Nevada foothills, we are a twenty-minute drive to the nearest town, close enough for easy day trips to Yosemite, Sequoia/King's Canyon National Parks, and the Pacific Coast. Arkansas. USACE Degray Lake, near Hot Springs, AR, is looking for volunteers (May - September 2022) to serve as campground hosts, providing visitors information 3-4 days/week in the campgrounds. Volunteers will provide 20 hrs/week of service on a set schedule in exchange for a full hookup campsite. Winter host positions are available as well in the off-season. DeGray Lake is a 31,800-acre, multi-purpose project with over 17,000 acres forested with millions of annual visitors. We have 9 campgrounds and 15 recreation areas. Oregon. Alder Creek Community Forest is an educational nonprofit operating on a quiet 80-acre site in southern Oregon. The 90-day renewable caretaker contract provides an RV site with full hookups and WiFi in exchange for 10 hours per week minimum volunteer commitment. Primary duties include facilities maintenance, visitor management, and groundskeeping. Capacity for minor physical labor and some mechanical ability are assets, as well as good human relations skills. Background check and references required. Montana. Montana State Parks is hiring volunteer park hosts for 2022 (May - September). We have positions across the state. All include water, sewer, and electrical. Some include phone, internet, and a stipend. If you want to live on pristine park property, be a steward for Montana’s natural and cultural resources, and be an influential part of a visitor’s stay, this is the job for you! Washington. Ice Harbor Lock and Dam Project is located on the Snake River E of Pasco, WA. We are always accepting applications for grounds maintenance (couple or solo), and park hosting (couples). All volunteers are compensated with a full hookup site, which includes water, sewer, and electric in return for 20 to 24 hrs of volunteer services per week. Kansas. USACE Clinton Lake, Kansas: One volunteer maintenance position available with the Corps of Engineers, beginning April 2023 and lasting until November 2023. The position will involve general campground maintenance including carpentry, pruning, landscaping, mowing, and painting. Georgia. US Army Corps of Engineers - Carters Lake - Chatsworth, GA. We have several volunteer opportunities throughout the year, from general and task-based positions in the winter to park and camp hosting positions in the summer. We are looking for individuals interested in volunteering at Carters Lake for future seasons following the summer 2022 recreation season (after October 31). Kansas. Council Grove Lake in Kansas is a smaller reservoir with breathtaking views and excellent volunteer opportunities, located near the Tall Grass Prairie within the Flint Hills. We have numerous opportunities for volunteers of any skill level: assisting visitors, maintenance, tree trimming, and much more! We are interested in seasonal or long-term volunteers with a minimum of 20 service hours per week. Full hookup sites in several campgrounds are provided in exchange for service hours. Alabama. Black Warrior and Tombigbee Lakes, Corps of Engineers, Demopolis, AL. We are always looking for dependable and enthusiastic volunteers in our laid-back environment here at the BWT. Schedules are usually either 3-4 days on with 4-6 days off. Commitments normally are for 3-6 months, but feel free to ask about other commitment opportunities. Arizona. Sedona, Arizona. The Coconino National Forest, Red Rock Ranger District, is looking for volunteer couples for site host duties at beautiful Palatki and V Bar V Heritage sites. Asking for three-month commitment. Work four days a week. Openings available August 2022 through 2024. Washington. Chief Joseph Dam has one spring/summer volunteer position for a single or a couple. An RV hookup site is provided. This is mostly a minor labor position with a little interpretive outreach, we have no gatekeepers, office work, nor fee collection here, negotiable hours and days of work. Beautiful shrub-steppe area with abundant outdoor activities in Eastern WA; hiking, fishing, hunting, bird watching. Oregon. Apply now for 2022 Host openings at Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife (ODFW). If you like working outdoors, especially groundskeeping, we may be a good fit. Live, work, play at hatcheries, wildlife areas, and offices all around Oregon. These are not campgrounds - most do not require cleaning public restrooms and have limited public contact. Requires a self-contained RV and full hookups are provided in exchange for volunteer (unpaid) service. Volunteer for one or more months (depending on Host site) in exchange for 20 hours from each volunteer per week. New Hosts - your first month is a trial service. California. Lake Kaweah in California is now accepting applications for the 2022 year. Campground Host positions are 4/6-month commitments. The Recreation Area Ambassador position is a 3/6-month commitment. The hours are 20-25 hrs a week. A host site with full hookup is reserved for volunteers. The area is in a great location. Four hours to the Bay Area or to the Los Angeles area. There are four National Parks, one National Monument, one National Forest, three USACE lakes, BLM area, the central coast, all within an approx. 3-hour drive. Iowa. USACE Volunteer Service Saylorville Lake. Workampers fill approximately 35 volunteer positions each recreation season. Located north of Des Moines, Iowa, Saylorville Lake has over 2.2 million visitors each year and is minutes from popular restaurants and shopping centers. Assist park rangers, staff, and contractors with park maintenance and operation performing duties to include, but not limited to, custodial services, campground hosts, visitor center staffing, interpretive programming, campground booth attendants, mowing, environmental stewardship, trail maintenance, and others.
