Prairie Berry - Workamper News Featured Employer

Prairie Berry is now taking applications for our 2024 Summer Season!

Please note that we do require all couples interested in our Workamping opportunities to apply separately!

Our Work Campers are hired to work in the company as Tasting Room and Camphost. We hire all of our work campers for 32-40 hours a week (depending on the labor need). Most positions are eligible to earn tips on top of their very competitive base wages. Our company does participate in tip pooling and split tips depending on the hours that you work each day.

The Prairie Berry Campground is open seasonally, so our campers can stay from May to September. We bring on Workcampers with the expectation of staying beginning of May through the end of September and possibly into October. Labor planning is part of our business so knowing that you are committed to us through a certain date helps us to make our business decisions. To our workcampers who are Sugar Beet Harvesters, please note we do require a commitment that could conflict with the Sugar Beet Harvest season.

The Prairie Berry Campground is open seasonally, so our campers can stay from April to October. We bring on Workampers with the expectation of staying Mid-April through the end of September or early May through the end of October. Labor planning is part of our business so knowing that you are committed to us through a certain date helps us to make our business decisions.

Our 11-site campground was built in 2021 and is exclusive to Prairie Berry Workcampers (not open to the public). The sites are all back in with electricity (50/30 AMP), water, sewer, and a newly installed sprinkler system. We do not have an on-site laundry or shower house, but there are 2 laundromats available in Hill City (3 miles away) and a shower house at Three Forks Campground (¼ mile away). We do allow pets in our campground but no more than 2 per campsite and we are a smoke-free campus. We require that all rigs have a fully functioning freshwater tank and pump, as water outages on our campus occur occasionally. Our sites will accommodate the following sized rigs:

  • 4 sites will preferably fit a large-sized 5th/Motorhome with a maximum length of 45’
  • 1 site will preferably fit a mid-sized 5th/Pull behind/Motorhome with a maximum length of 40’
  • 5 sites will preferably fit small-sized 5th/Pull behind/Motorhome with a maximum length of 35’
  • 1 site will preferably fit a very small-sized Trailer/Motorhome with a maximum length of 25’ (camp host)

We offer a rate of $350* per month with our reimbursement program! (Monthly rental price reflects rebates applied upon full completion of employment commitment). Stay with us through your commitment and receive part of your monthly cost back. We currently do not offer WIFI in the campground as we live in a very remote mountainous area. Typically our campers will use satellite TV or satellite internet but on their own dollar. Cell phone service is not a guarantee but the best carriers for our area would be AT&T and Verizon Wireless.
