Annual Winnebago Rally at Home in Iowa
The 42nd annual Winnebago Rally in Forest City Iowa is now over, but about 1,100 motorhomes from nearly every state and Canadian province attended the Winnebago Itasca Travelers Grand National Rally (GNR) in the hometown of the motorhome manufacturer. It’s just like one huge reunion or “homecoming” and the attendees make a significant impact on the local economy. A full week of seminars and activities including music and kids events were held for attendees, with the theme being Hillbilly Jamboree.
The biggest special interest group in WIT is the MIL-WITS (military veterans and owners of Winnebago and Itasca motorhomes). At night, they played taps and at daybreak, they played reveille. Members provided the color guard for the opening ceremony parade and for the closing ceremonies. The primary goal for their group is to provide an opportunity for retired and active military members to travel in Winnebago products and see the country they defended.
