More Locals at Campgrounds

More Locals are becoming regular guests at campgrounds, either renting cabins or staying in RVs, sometimes just a few miles from home. Even tent sites are popular, despite the heat, because of their low cost and guests ability to drive cars to the campground, rather than an RV.

Families that are just a few miles from home still enjoy their time away, with kids having the ability to swim and bike, play sand volleyball and even watch movies on outdoor movie screens.  At night, they sing around a campfire and toast marshmallows.

Whether staying in an RV, a cabin or a tent, they are still surrounded by trees and away from traffic, so it’s “camping” to them.

Work schedules, kids’ sports, high gas prices and convenience often mean shorter stays but more frequent visits to campgrounds that are close to home.  Often, birthday parties or reunions are planned which are more affordable than hotels and restaurants.  People are looking for deals and getting them!
