Inspiration for a Lifetime

Meet Rendezvous Speaker & Author, Arline Chandler

Faces & Places in the Workamping Lifestyle

[click Faces & Places above to hear audio]

Arline left a teaching career in the kindergarten classroom to launch into full-time writing. She combines RV travel with her interest in people, places, and their history. You may have read her articles that have been published in Workamper News, Branson’s Review, Motorhome, Ozarks Mountaineer, Ozarks Magazine, Mature Living, Coast to Coast, RV Life, and other publications.  She writes a weekly blog, “RV Travel Tales,” for RV Life’s online magazine.

Chandler served as an instructor at the University of Idaho’s annual Life On Wheels RV Conference from 1995-2005, and as a featured speaker for an annual RVing event around the U.S. known as The Rally.     Chandler loves travel, perhaps, a strange juxtaposition to having lived in the same house in Heber Springs, Arkansas, for 52 years. She and her photographer husband, Lee Smith, have logged thousands of miles since their marriage in February 2002. A four-month trip to Alaska is a highlight in their travels, but they also have wonderful memories—and photos—of three trips to Mexico, several winters in Arizona, and three summers in the Northwest.  Branson, Missouri, remains one of Chandler’s favorite destinations.

Chandler has lived the Workamping lifestyle since the inception of Workamper News in 1987, her primary job: traveling the country and seeking the faces and places of the lifestyle for her column, “Workamper Journal.” She and Smith have chosen numerous Workamping positions from volunteer wood hosts at Cape Lookout State Park on Oregon’s coast to paying jobs in Bar Harbor, Maine, and at Amazon.com. Chandler notes that they pick jobs for the experiences—and the places the jobs take them.

When not on the road, Chandler and Smith make their home in Heber Springs.

Arline is a prolific writer, including histories, memoirs, essays, and last but not least, her books on the Workamping lifestyle. Road Work II: The RVer’s Ultimate Income Resource Guide is available at the Workamper Bookstore.

“Why You Should Attend the Workamper Rendezvous”

Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 7 p.m. CT

Please attend this live Workamper Rendezvous Symposium 3, scheduled for TOMORROW EVENING AT

5 p.m. PT / 5 p.m. Arizona/ 6 p.m. MT / 7 p.m. CT/ 8 p.m. ET

Learn more about the upcoming Workamper Rendezvous from Steve Anderson and special past Rendezvous attendee guests.  If you are still having doubts about whether you should attend the Rendezvous, then join us tomorrow evening for this LIVE  EVENT!

My opinion:     Why is it Important for Workampers and Dreamers to Meet?

Everyone understands the educational value of live seminars, but what are just as important in live events are the opportunities for free exchange of information between attendees.  In every group of like-minded individuals living a particular lifestyle, there are bound to be shared challenges, as well as joys. Workampers face their own set of challenges, and while they love to hear from experts, they learn just as much from their peers.

Investing time and money to come to the Rendezvous in October will be well worth it just for the opportunity to meet with others whom live the life you live (or dream of living).  If you are already a Workamper or exploring the lifestyle, you should be able to deduct your Rendezvous expenses as necessary educational expenses to earn a living.  The staff of Workamper News, the experts and your peers will share troubleshooting tips, ways to resolve any challenges you face, key RV maintenance tips you won’t get anywhere else, and of course, how to sell yourself to get the job you want, what kinds of job opportunities are out there, and how to get them!

Improve the quality of working on the road, find out how to lower your costs and increase your income, share solutions to find the best jobs, cook in your kitchen, and lower your stress. The Workamper News staff wants to meet you and show you how to best utilize their resources!

Resolve those issues that might be holding you back!  Make lifetime friends and learn of great places to work!  More than anything enjoy the camaraderie, food and fun!

Webinars & Jobinars: There’s Nothin’ To Be Scared Of

A Webinar provides participants from all over the country the ability to connect with a presenter via their computer and/or telephone. You can view the presentation on your computer screen, or just listen to the audio by telephone. The presenter may show you a PowerPoint presentation or share their Internet browser enabling you to see their mouse move as they click through their website. You will be able to interact with the presenter by (1) typing your comment or question into the type-chat box in the GoToMeeting control panel on your screen; (2) speaking into the microphone built in or plugged in to your computer; or (3) speaking into your telephone.

Webinars may seem technologically intimidating, but once you attend one, the rest just gets easier!

Let’s Have Some Serious Fun with Sewer Situations!

That’s the opinion of Steve Anderson and the staff here at Workamper News.  Let’s face it:  sewer challenges are just a part of RVing.  Why not solve a problem with a fun solution.
