Stay Out of Ruts!
Each week as I work to develop content for this newsletter and make it meaningful to all readers, I come to the conclusion that each newsletter’s opening topic means something to some of the people, but certainly not to all of the readers. Some of you have been doing this so long that you are satisfied with the status quo or feel like you know it all. My goal is to not only provide information about workamping—whether just getting started or furthering your goals—but to also get you to think about things you may not have thought about before or in a long time.
As Steve Anderson says, “Workampers are among the small percentage of folks who are living life on purpose!” Everyone has times of getting in a rut or not setting new goals to have new adventures. Ask yourself if you are still living life on purpose or just letting life happen!
Keep planning and developing your future. Don’t let the economy or gas prices dictate how you spend the rest of your life. Make contingency plans!
Whatever it is you dream about experiencing—living the Workamping lifestyle, building a small business, or volunteering to make a difference in others’ lives or our beautiful country, take the time each day to decide how you can make it happen.
In a rut? Get out of it today, just by daring to make it so! Rekindle your spirit and get moving on those ideals!
RV Lifestyle Expert Jaimie Hall Bruzenak says –
“Some Workampers prefer volunteering to working in a paid position. One reason often mentioned is that volunteers are usually appreciated. Many agencies treat their volunteers like VIPs – in fact, that’s what the National Park Service calls their volunteers in parks – VIPs because they are also Very Important People and the agency could not provide the visitor services they do not run their operation without them. State parks rely heavily on volunteers as well, as do other government and nonprofit agencies.”
If you’ve paid attention to the RV Industry News posted throughout this past season, state and national parks have had to close some or even all of their parks due to the economy. Volunteers are more necessary than ever! Give consideration to volunteering your time and talents as you live the RV lifestyle. Think you can’t afford it? Remember, volunteering reduces expenses because an RV site is provided. Other Workampers mix working for pay and volunteering. They might work part of the year and then volunteer for a free RV site another season. Volunteering can be more flexible than working. Some assignments are short or the agency will accept volunteers for a month or two, rather than requiring a full season. You might volunteer for a site and hold a job elsewhere, or one person volunteers, the other works in a paid position.
Workamper University’s Webinar home study course, “RV Volunteers Make a Difference,” is taught by Jaimie Hall Bruzenak and includes Jaimie’s Rolodex of volunteer Web sites and resources. Visit the Training section of the Workamper News Store to purchase this class on CD.

WKN Staff Looks Forward to Seeing You at the Rendezvous
Our staff will be on hand to assist anyone who needs help with the Workamper News family of websites, products, and services. We are anxious for you to meet other like-minded individuals, whether new to the RV lifestyle or advanced Workampers. Our Workamper News University Professors are anxious to meet you also!
Why is he speaking at the October Rendezvous?
This husband (married to Evada “Lady E”) and father of four daughters and grandfather of eight, has found that the American Family can truly enjoy the Go RVing lifestyle.
Terry is well respected by the RV Association within Texas and has built a high level of integrity within the RV technical training community.
Terry began working on the production line for the Skyline Corporation in Mansfield, Texas in 1972, and then began the journey that would take him to where he is today. A Master Certified RV Technician and licensed insurance claims adjuster developed a training program that would take an inexperienced person to become in one year, a certified RV Technician working in the RV industry.
He has been a featured guest and technical advisor on Classic Rides, a DIY Network Series that featured a 1970 Air Stream Renovation Project. Terry is the Host and Technical Advisor for the internet TV program Everything RVTV, where he teaches the RV consumer do-it-yourself skills to enhance their RV lifestyle. Terry was the advisor and spokesperson for the Texas State Technical College recruiting video that is used in the local high schools to recruit candidates for the RV program. The Texas RV Professor has been a guest speaker and lecturer at various consumer RV shows and aftermarket trade fairs.
He has written articles for RV Pro Magazine and the TRVA Scanner. The Texas RV Professor has also written and produced books and DVDs for the Take Home Technician Series for RV Consumers.
I could go on and on, but the point I’m making is—COME TO THE OCTOBER RENDEZVOUS and LEARN FROM TERRY!!! Terry will give you the means to take care of so many problems most RVers have from time to time maintain and repairing their RV systems. Our rolling homes have maintenance envy and love our attention. Terry will show you how!
Check out the recently updated Rendezvous Schedule. Terry will be presenting “RV Maintenance Made Easy” as well as “Learn to Do RV Inspections to Make or Save Dollars on the Road” on Days One and Two.
He also will be offering an in depth RV Maintenance training course on the Bonus Day.
