STILL NEED CAMPHOSTS FOR 2009 SEASON!

The following Colorado State Parks are still looking for volunteer camp hosts during the 2009 season: Arkansas Headwaters; Sweitzer; Highline Lake; Jackson Lake; Lake Pueblo; Mancos; Ridgway, San Luis; State Forest; Sylvan Lake; and Vega.


Volunteer opportunities abound with Colorado State Parks. Volunteers perform tasks ranging from campground hosts and naturalists, to photographers and bike patrollers. Each year individual and group volunteers are needed throughout the state to support both short and long term volunteer positions, events and special projects.

Volunteers help provide for outstanding visitor experiences in state parks by assisting staff with all park related activities. Here are just a few examples of how you can make a difference with state parks:

Campground Host Campground hosting offers a perfect opportunity for retired couples to enjoy the beautiful natural resources state parks have to offer. Help operate the campground in exchange for a free campsite. Most parks require 20-24 hrs/week with flexible hours.

Volunteer Naturalist Naturalists foster environmental stewardship among visitors to state parks by developing awareness and understanding of Colorado's natural and cultural resources.

Visitor Services Visitor services volunteers play a vital role within the Parks by greeting and assisting visitors with questions, designing and constructing displays, helping with special events, and many other visitor related tasks.

Colorado's State Parks would not be the amazing places they are without the hard work and dedication of volunteers. What better way to thank volunteers than providing a FREE Volunteer Parks Pass after 48 hours of satisfactory volunteer service.
